DOG BITE INSURANCE

About 77.8 million dogs are owned as pets in the United States according to a 2015-2016 survey from by the American Pet Products Association.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about 4.5 million people are bitten by dogs each year and about 885,000 require medical attention for these injuries; about half of these are children.
Some insurance companies will not insure homeowners who own certain breeds of dogs categorized as dangerous, such as pit bulls. Others decide on a case-by-case basis, depending on whether an individual dog, regardless of its breed has been deemed vicious.
Dog bite injuries total over $400 million per year in medical and liability claims. Many homeowners or renters insurance policies exclude coverage for injuries caused by dogs, resulting in out-of-pocket expenses for pet owners. In addition, many landlords and property management companies may be reluctant to rent to people with dogs particularly certain breed - especially if you don’t have coverage for canine liability claims.

We are pleased to offer a solution to dog bite liability with Canine Liability coverage, a pet insurance program catering to concerned owners, available through Dean Insurance, an independent insurance agency established in 1994.
The Canine Liability insurance policy offers broad coverage, no deductible, and is available in all states, except Alaska. Each dog is individually underwritten so no specific breed is excluded. Plus, with our policy, we can add the property Management Company or landlord on the policy as an additional insured.
